Skyfall mauls Thunderball.
Thunderball is my favorite of Connerys Bond movies, but Skyfall is just too amazing to lose this matchup.

Wow, I didn't realize that these are actually the two highest grossing films in the history of the James Bond franchise (when adjusted for inflation). It's hard to believe that a mediocrity like Thunderball spent nearly a half-century as the reigning champion of this series, in terms of box office. To me, having Skyfall on top seems much more...right.

Aye, Skyfall by a healthy margin. Incidentally, I am currently watching the Bond series in order of release, having only previously seen about half of them in their entirety (and most of the ones I have seen were made post-1990). Have just watched Dr No and From Russia with Love (two which I had not previously seen), so my position on a lot of these films may change over the coming weeks. That said, I have my doubts that Skyfall, along with Casino Royale, won't remain my favourite or second favourite Bond film. Nevertheless, keeping an open mind...
