I love pulp movies and these are two modern attempts that have their share of flaws. I think King Kong might have more scenes that are memorable but it's overly long and Sky Captain has a lot of new ideas going for it.

'King Kong' might be a better film, but I prefer the asthestics of 'Sky Captain'.

Sky Captain was fun, in its way, and I'd like to check it out again, but I prefer Kong, by a rather wide margin. Its only real flaw, I find, is in its length; while I enjoyed everything in it, some of the creature attacks on Skull Island (particularly the dino stampede--very Jurassic Park) should have been cut out to whittle down the running time.
