Is this a battle between Kristy McNichol vs. Anna Karina? No, more like between a boring movie and a visceral, entertaining one. Alphaville was mostly dull, while White Dog ranged from sad to funny to audacious. From the Samuel Fuller and Jean-Luc Godadrd movies I've seen, both of the directors have a style than can be engaging and frustrating at the same time. White Dog is more engaging, while Alphaville is more frustrating.
