Two truly excellent, non-Miyazaki directed Ghibli movies. I'd rather re-watch Arrietty, but Grave of the Fireflies is the better film.

Arrietty is pretty flawed, and it just doesn't gel. But I'd rather watch it than Grave. Most people find it depressing, I just find it intellectually off-putting and not as artful as Takahata usually is. The ending of Arrietty is more in line with what I enjoy about Ghibli, its worldbuilding and its archaic, fantastical notions.
