Two great Crowe movies, Gladiator is the pick.

I could go back and forth on this one all day. Does it come down to swords and sandals vs. western? Joaquin Phoenix vs. Christian Bale? Gladiator, for now.

Hahahaha.... two amazing Russel Crowe movies. Great western vs great epic. Gladiator for now. I loved 3:10 though.

Gladiator wins an extremely close one. 3:10 to Yuma is one of the most underrated movies OF ALL TIME!

Thing is, I think Crowe is a bit overrated in Gladiator. Badass maybe, but not exactly nuanced or rounded, and certainly not oscar worthy compared to Phoenix and Reed. That being said, I adore just about everything else in Gladiator, hence its position in my top 20. 3:10 is a highly enjoyable film, a good introduction to Westerns for me, and when held up on it's own, Crowe's performance is actually more unpredictable, and therefore more interesting. Despite this, it can't compete with Gladiator.
