The Godfather vs. The King of Kong

The Godfather suffers in my book for having been so iconic that so many measure every film against it. Coupled with the fact that before I actually watched The Godfather for the first time, I felt like I had seen a good 40% of the film in tributes or had it paraphrased to me by various sources, it was just difficult to watch with an unbiased eye. King of Kong completely caught me off guard - having grown up just after the golden age of video gaming, it was seemingly the kind of documentary built for my generation. Perhaps not knowing what would happen next was what made watching the film so much more enjoyable. Oddly enough, I could probably go back to King of Kong a 100 times over. For me, The Godfather seems more of a sentence of having to sit through 3 hours of what I know is going to happen, kind of like a highlight reel. I recognize this opinion is blasphemy, but I stand by it.
