With The Thin Red Line, Malick scaled cinematic heights that to this day remain untouched in the genre, though Dunkirk came dangerously close.

Another worthy comparison between two masterpieces, Dunkirk.

I love how both of these war movies put the audience in the soldiers' shoes and make the war experience all the more intense that way. Both of them have a certain beauty to them with nature in The Thin Red Line, and with Dunkirk it's the soldiers trying to stay together in trying circumstances. It's so close, but I'll go with Thin Red Line.
