Ugh! Both crappy and campy. Starship Troopers, but only because of the hottie factor.

This is hard to pick because in the 30 years that separates them, there was this new sense of irony injected into that type of sci fi commentary film. Or maybe a lack of irony. Anyway... I like both, but POTA wins by sake of being "classic." Whatever that means.
Easily Planet of the Apes. Starship Troopers is one of Paul Verhoeven's weaker efforts.

Both could be said to be satires, but Planet of the Apes is just so "on the nose" it's kinda annoying.
