There are pros and cons to both, but what tips the scale for THE VOYAGE HOME is that it's not a retread of previously told STAR TREK stories.

The Voyage Home certainly is a lot less spectacular, but more fun nonetheless. And it's a prime example on how to make a very good and entertaining movie with a relatively small budget.
Into Darkness works better in all levels imo.

star trek 4 was very enjoyable but into darkness is slightly better.

I personally prefer The Voyage Home a little bit, but considering it was very dejá-vu'ish, Into Darkness worked on almost every level.

Humpback whales? Really? For me, Star Trek Into Darkness just worked so much better.

yes The Visuals in into Darkness is stunning and the acting is top notch but its a rehash and not all that fun while Voyage Home is really good!

Really like Into Darkness, IMO a top 5 Star Trek movie. But it's IV for me, best of the original series

It’s hard to say if it’s just nostalgia or not but I love The Voyage Home.
