What an impossible decision! Both masterpieces in their own right. La belle et la bête is more beautiful, Beauty and the Beast has more heart.

don't especially like the disney version, but i love cocteau's film

Going with Disney's 1991 animated version. It expands and develops greatly on not only the central relationship but every main character. The music, the camera movement, the use of colours, make for a beautiful masterpiece. Both are superb however.
