Is American Sniper the better film from an acting, directing and other technical perspective? Yes. Do I hate all that it represents when it comes to glamorization and idolisation of soldiers and war? Yes. Does all of this pain me further knowing that I can't chose rubbish like On Stranger Tides over it BECAUSE of the strengths that are undeniably buried in there? You bet.
