I actually enjoy part VII and stick up for it but it's not going to beat the original.

Part 1 by far 7 is my least favorite if you take out Jason X and Jason Goes to Hell

The New Blood is overly slick and censored; the low-budget horror of Friday the 13th is so much more effective.
