The Last House on the Left vs. The Virgin Spring

Surprised there aren't any comments here, as The Last House on the Left is basically a remake of The Virgin Spring. Obviously Bergman did it better.

Finally watched The Virgin Spring and saw the same storyline unfolding as TLHotL! Didn't see that one coming. Sickened by both, but The Virgin Spring redeems itself whereas the grotesque remake is an atrocity in every way. Don't need to see either again. Ever.

Both are disturbing, but Craven's remake is way more sickening. Bergman is the most skilled filmmaker, so he did it better and cleverer, obviously; also, Max von Sydow. Last House on the Left is baaad, dated and boring. Young Wes Craven still had a long way to go.
