It's been a while since I've seen either of these films, but I remember Demolition Man being a good time, mindless fun, while Planet of the Apes tried to reach a certain level of seriousness and make a moral statement, but it never quite got there. I don't hate the ending as much as most people though. I'll go with Demolition Man, but this one is kind of a coin toss for me.
