The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug vs. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

In my opinion the middle chapter of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is far superior to the middle chapter of The Hobbit Trilogy. I love An Unexpected Journey, but I was a little let down by Desolation of Smaug. I still really liked it, but I had quite a few problems with it. The Two Towers is my least favorite LOTR film, but it easily wins here.

Some of hobbits can't beat LOTR

Close; Smaug improves on An Unexpected Journey while Two Towers takes a step backwards compared to Fellowship. I think I'll go with Two Towers, even though it's my least favorite of the trilogy (although it's still pretty good).

Battle of Helms Deep was awesome but Two Towers was a bit uneven for me as a whole. Desolation for me.

My favorite of the LOTR trilogy versus the my favorite of the 2 Hobbit films released so far. Two Towers is the better film.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is way better. The scenes with Smaug was totaly amazing.

The Two Towers for me. A more stronger sequel in its respective trilogy, and a better film in its franchise collectively.

Two Two Towers is easily the better flick.

Battle of the Middle Sequels: I have go side with Desolation of Smaug just for the dragon.

Smaug was great in "Desolation" but Two Towers is a far superior middle installment.

While Smaug is solid and the best of the Hobbit films, Two Towers has so many of the original trilogy's best scenes, though Return of the King overall is the best. The horrid love triangle alone makes Towers the better film.

TTT...without a doubt...

Really not much of a contest; each LotR movie is miles better than any of the Hobbit films. Interestingly, the two middle parts are my personal favorites for each trilogy, in particular because of their (nearly) perfect pacing.
