X-Men: Apocalypse was entertaining, even though the X-Men franchise has clearly run out of gas. Star Trek Beyond felt fresher and less routine. It's just a better movie, period.
X-Men: Apocalypse was a step forward. Star Trek Beyond was a step back.

Beyond was a step forward from the stupid Into Darkness! Apocalypse was a step back from DOFP!
Trek is the easy choice for me....
