The Hateful Eight vs. The Revenant

Two snow Westerns from late 2015.

Hands down my two favorites of 2015. Tarantino is my favorite filmmaker and he delivered with The Hateful Eight. It has awesome characters brought to live by a stellar cast, fantastic dialogue, beautiful cinematography, and an incredible score from Ennio Morricone. It also has a great story that gets better by the minute. It's a long movie, but it flew by both times I saw it. The Revenant on the other hand is also pretty long, but once again it flew by both times I've seen it. The cinematography is breathtaking, it has great score, and DiCaprio and Hardy give brilliant perfromances. Both films are fantastic and became rare instant favorites for me, but the best film of 2015 in my opinion is The Revenant.

A slight edge to the hateful eight

Two great 2015 movies and westerns, I prefer the crafty and witty dialogue of Hateful Eight over Revenant's subtle set pieces. Both are amazing in their own way.

8. Easy.

Enjoyed both, for different reasons, but I think Revenant had a better flow, although I prefer aspects of H8 over Revenant.

The Revenant wins this because I have more passion for it but Hateful Eight was still brilliant.

I didn't like The Revenant all that much, but that's good. 8 all the way though.

The Revenant has beautiful cinematography and a great performance by DiCaprio, but The Hateful Eight has superior writing and dark humor which makes it easier to sit through.

The Revenant wins comfortably for it's insane cinematography (perhaps the most beautiful film I've ever seen), performances and just sheer filmmaking prowess. The Hateful Eight is still great though.

Hateful Eight wins, not hard for me

Tiebreaker goes to H8. The Revenant was good, but nothing really special. I still need to watch Inception, but pretty much every DiCaprio movie is the same thing.
