1917 vs. Birdman

Birdman has a better long take than 1917 and 1917 cannot hold a candle

1917 with an easy win for me...

This match up should have happened sooner. Birdman may have the better one take but 1917 is the better overall movie and story.

I was just discussing this one the other day. I saw 1917 in a sweet I-MAX cinema and felt all of its intensity and atmosphere. Birdman is also really good but not as mesmerising!

1917 really managed to do something right: to break my immersion in a long take movie. More than once. It's still good and quite intense, but meh. Even Rope's long take was better done (and it's 71 years older). Birdman is way more dynamic, better scored (I really loved its drum-only soundtrack), had better performances and a better message all around.

Birdman has the better long take and better acting achievements.

Both are melodramatic and frustratingly obvious, but Birdman was at least creative in the way it presented its frustratingly obvious melodrama.

One shot wonders and I mean that in a kind way. Well crafted and best of the best.
