Two awesome Spanish horror films. I love both, but I'll go with The Orphanage for now. I simply enjoyed it more than The Devil's Backbone.

Devil's Backbone easy, both a great but it's just so layered and has more spirit

The Orphanage obliterates The Devil's Backbone. Orphanage is clever and shocking, while Devil's Backbone is really boring. It's not immediately bad, but the story only kept getting less and less interesting. By middle, it was more like a Mexican soap opera than anything else. I thought Cronos was hard to surpass as a mediocre, disappointing horror movie but yeah, Backbone did it.
