Piercing vs. Days of Thunder

Piercing is a little too clever and experimental for its own good. Drug-induced flashbacks, featureless cities made in miniature, and a deliberately ambiguous ending make for a movie that seems padded, despite its 81-minute running time. But its ambition gives it a edge against Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise things in a racecar.
