Deer Hunter might be more emotionally involved as stated. But Full Metal Jacket has Kubricks excellent cinematography, top of the bill. In the end, I loke Full Metal Jacket a whole lot better than The Deer Hunter.

I like these both a lot but i like full metal jacket better but i think platoon is the best war movie ever just saying
Never could enjoy The Deer Hunter, and I'm not really sure why. Loved FMJ from the first moment....

The Deer Hunter has great acting, but it's boring as fuck. I'll take Full Metal Jacket any day.

I'd go Deer Hunter any day. Stronger, more memorable, and convincing performances. Full Metal Jacket is not Kubrick at his best; but it's still an amazing film.

While I love Kubrick's films, I think The Deer Hunter was the better take on the Vietnam War, right behind Apocalypse Now.
