Saving Private Ryan wins for having the better, more well-defined story. Unfortunately, Full Metal Jacket often seems like a movie without a purpose.
I think I'm going with Full Metal Jacket.

This is difficult. Both are great war films but in this case saving private ryan wins by an inch

Saving Private Ryan packs more punch.

Full Metal Jacket has more depth in it, and the philosophy is more powerful. That first half alone is better than literally everything in SPR, and the second half is still phenomenal
