Pride & Prejudice vs. Pride and Prejudice

I adore Pride and Prejudice and own the 1940, 1995, and 2006 versions. While it is difficult to choose, I must give a nod to the BBC version for its authenticity in both set design and costumes. All three versions are wonderful, though.

If you want a representation of the differences between the 2005 and 1995 versions, compare the scene where Darcy "declares his love" awkwardly to Lizzy. Colin Firth is comically prideful, whereas Matthew Macfadyen's delivery is flat, and he looks the cartoon character Droopy. Keira is winsome, but she doesn't convey the same maturity that Jennifer Ehle does, although you can see her trying to convey the same sense of pleasantness, and in that respect she succeeds.

Yeah the tapestry that 95 weaved is much more colourful (metaphorically of course, because the 05 version is sorta gorgeous to behold, for that type of film). Just a wittier, more zany production.
