Great matchup. I hate voting against FOTR, but I prefer 2001.

Tough one, indeed. I think 2001 is the more incredible cinematic experience.

To me (and this is for me only), LoTR takes a big dump on the dreadfully bloated 2001!

Actually it isn't only for you SLionsCricket.

2001 is the more mindblowing experience.

im gonna go with 2001 as well. Strange really.

no, I can't decide, both game changers and some of my fav films. Shit. Fellowship I guess wins just because its more emotionally affecting and exciting

Fellowship is a totally glorious fantasy film, but 2001: A Space Odyssey is so incredible.

woooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!.............................. 2001

LOTR by now

So close, but 2001 wins this one.

fellowship although i love 2001

I'm sorry Dave, but you won't win this matchup because your in a polished turd of a movie.

Holly shit!

2001: Groundbreaking, felt long, Amazing LOTR: Imaginative, Epic, Very LONGGGGG It's very close

2001 certainly beats LotR in every aspect...

I switched to Fellowship..

Another chance to vote against 2001. Not passing this up...

This one is tough, but I gotta go with Kubrick on this one.

I'm going with Fellowship.

Love both films but Kubrick perfection is hard to beat.

Fellowship has more great modern moments.

The introduction to the greatest fantasy trilogy vs. The greatest and most influential sci-fi film. Fellowship holds more pure entertainment value but it is no where near as mesmerizing, fascinating, and brilliant as 2001. If you think about, 2001 is actually a more epic experience than Fellowship excluding the limitations at the time.
