Baby Driver vs. The Italian Job

Haha, nice! The Italian Job is certainly a British cinema classic and the ending is iconic, but having watched it in its entirety a few years ago for the first time, I felt somewhat underwhelmed by the rest of it. Almost as if the pop-culturally relevant bits outshine a so-so remainder of the film. I didn't get around to watching Baby Driver until a couple of years after it came out and knowing when this came out in relation to the allegations surrounding Kevin Spacey felt slightly uncomfortable, but it's sufficiently entertaining and bombastic that I regret not seeing it in the cinema. Plus it's nice to see Edgar Wright direct his uniquely creative energy into something that is first and foremost an action film with comedy stylings, rather than a comedy film with some excellent but tongue-in-cheek action set-pieces for a change. It might be sacrilege to say, but Baby Driver wins this one.
