OK...(for me) these two movies are at the bottom of Mr. Shyamalan's "repertoire" if you will. And I haven't seen The Last Airbender, but from what I hear - I shouldn't even bother. The party bus only went as far as The Village in my opinion. While there was some rather cool things about Lady, I sensed the honeymoon might well be over. Then came The Happening. Honeymoon...definitely still over, but I liked the bleak horror element of Happening just a little more.
I basically agree with miknwilkes. I'll add that I think The Happening would have been a bit better with better acting. Mark Wahlberg felt miscast to me.

Shyamalan on Shyamalan violence. Both are implausible and neither can maintain internal coherence. But The Happening is (slightly) less of a vanity project.
