Taxi Driver vs. After Hours

Damn. "After Hours" is so damn great (it's just about perfect, in fact) but "Taxi Driver" is...well, "Taxi Driver". I feel like I'm obligated to pick it here. "After Hours" is like "Barry Lyndon" for me; both are not well known classics by Scorsese and Kubrick, respectively, and they both deserve to be cited among both directors' best works. So yes, I would say that "After Hours" is almost as great as "Taxi Driver", almost.

Yeah, both are pretty damn amazing, but Taxi Driver sits respectively at #3 on my chart, so the underrated one doesn't really have a chance.

Agreed. After Hours is amazing, yet it sits in 9th place on my Scorsese rankings (just shows what an amazing director he is). Taxi Driver however, is my favorite Scorsese film.

never knew Martin directed After Hours always liked it but it cant beat Taxi Driver.

Surrender After Hours.

I'll go with the more popular classic. Both films depict the milieu of New York in a somewhat antagonistic manner, but Scorsese, De Niro and Schrader can't be beaten.

Two films Scorsese won awards at Cannes for: Palme d'Or for Taxi Driver and Best Director for After Hours. I think Taxi Driver is his best film, but After Hours is close, and it's my favorite, so I'll pick it here.

I absolutely adore After Hours but I have to go with Taxi Driver which is nothing short of a masterpiece

Taxi Driver is perfect. For now, it's my #1 Scorsese movie
