Well, neither film makes New York City look particularly good. I've always found Taxi Driver fascinating, while Midnight Cowboy has yet to really grab me. Travis Bickle wins big...

I can see both films as companion pieces. What with their critiques on New York Society during the Vietnam War, and the navigation through poverty and crime in the 60's-70's. Taxi Driver takes it out, because Martin Scorsese hit all the right buttons when he made the flick, plus the script that Paul Shrader wrote, is the quintessential screenplay on character development.

so hard to choose but what tips the scale was De Niro's Performance in Taxi Driver.

For me, it felt like Midnight Cowboy was a movie that never really got going.

Midnight Cowboy wins this one.

Taxi Driver realises its location better, has a stronger maim character and is the overall better film!

Taxi Driver with the victory...
