My memories of Frankenstein are a bit foggy, so I'll go with Jekyll & Hyde for now. It certainly has the stronger female lead in Miriam Hopkins--she almost steals the film from March, and is especially moving in the scene where she comes to ask Jekyll for help. March is, quite simply, a babe, but as with Frankenstein and Dracula, this derives as much from stage plays as the original novel, and I think it misses out on a lot of the mystery of the latter as a result.
Frankenstein is just the better film.
