The Deer Hunter vs. Pulp Fiction

I've been doing Flickchart for a while and most of the match-ups have been super easy, but today I've had some real killers - how can you even decide between these two? Deer Hunter.

They are two spots apart, both in my Top 20. How to choose? I don't know, but I guess Pulp Fiction... Anyway they're both perfect.

I think the first half of Deer Hunter is as good as any movie has ever been ever, but the scenes in Vietnam, though terrifying and iconic, fail to capture the war as well as films like Apocalypse Now or Platoon. Pulp Fiction is almost irritatingly cocky and chatty, but it is also brilliant and a very complete experience. I think it takes this one by a fair margin.

Glitch. This is the seventh time in a row this pair has come up.

I think Pulp Fiction could've been a sequel to Deer Hunter. Because Christopher Walken portrays an American soldier in both films.

Pulp by a mile and a half.

Pulp. Smash.

Marsellus Wallace just threw The Deer Hunter out of a four-story window.

Pulp Fiction is the only true masterpiece winner here.
