Both impressive visuals but I don't enjoy the unoriginal stories. Avatar obviously looks better by today's standards so that's my choice.

"Metropolis" is easily my choice. A beautiful, epic dystopian fantasy about the horrors and wonders of technology. As visually pleasing as it is, "Avatar" is way more cliche and, in my opinion, not as stunning as the Fritz Lang masterpiece "Metropolis".
