There really is no contest here. The Jim Carrey version is definitely not as terrible as people seme to make it out to be (especially when compared to Mike Myers' The Cat in the Hat), but it can't hold a candle to the Chuck Jones animated version. True to the book, awesome animation, and memorable songs, it's definitely a movie you can watch every year at Christmas and enjoy it every time.

No Comparison here. The live action version isn't a bad attempt but also completely unnecessary.

I really do like both, and both have been a part of my Christmas over the years, but I have to go with the original here. The music is classic, the animation suits the story, and Boris Karloff's narration is so memorable.

1966

The cartoon does laps around the atrocious movie....

classic definitely.
