Similar Proustian flashback type stories... but one is totally played for laughs. Fanny and Alexander wins, but it's very close.

Grand Budapest is much better. "Anything happens".

Both are masterpieces. One is currently 22nd on my list and the other is 66th. Fanny and Alexander is the former.

i love both, but bergman's masterpiece is my #5 right now
