Both movies have incredible casts, but only one used them well....

Bill Murray has more personality in his intentionally generic cameo in the Grand Budapest than in his well-meaning but ultimately brainless role in Monuments Men.

You two have already said all that needs to be said about this matchup. Give Wes Anderson the same cast and I can guarantee you I'll love it; anyone else and I think about the ways it can go wrong, and The Monuments Men went very wrong.

Two Great 2014 Films But One Was Slightly More Entertaining Than The Other.
The Monuments Men is crap. Uninspired, going through the motions crap. Not one moment felt genuine. The Grand Budapest Hotel was occasionally tedious toward the end, but it had much more heart and vision than Clooney's utter waste of time.
