Hmm. I'd say both are "okay", but they each have some significant flaws. As a whole, I think I preferred "Ends" by a hair's breadth because at least it was willing to make some bold choices (even if it didn't always manage to execute them perfectly).

I'm someone that loves both. I give the edge to Ends
At least they tried something different and I think it works very well. MM can't be the unknown quantity he was in 1978 anyway.
