Randy Rides Alone vs. The Star Packer

John Wayne's early Westerns were hit-and-miss, depending on what you were looking for. His ones for Leon Schlesinger I found were much more enjoyable. They were filled with some good gags and some exciting shootouts. These two efforts for Lone Star, however, don't have the same spark. Of the two, The Star Packer was a much better paced story, even though you could figure out the villain within the first 10 minutes.

Randy Rides Alone has its moments and so does The Star Packer. RRA has the great open scene. Replicated by better productions. We are talking Poverty Row Lone Star here. Just saw Star Packer again. Gabby in a dual role just like RRA. I have other favorites of the 16 Lone Stars. The ones with George Francis Hayes
