Ooooh, this is such a good match-up! How come no one has commented on it? I'm a total cuck for sci-fi horror and Carpenter in general, but something about TCSM has stuck with me more. I've always loved it way more than many other people and way more than a ton of other films. It wins for me.

Many horror fans love TSCM but I prefer the Sci-Fi horror of The Thing.

Would love to hear John Carpenter's own thoughts on this one, considering how he has repeatedly cited TCSM as an influence. As for me, I can't say it's close: The Thing.
