Leap Year vs. Woman on Top

What do you do when you've got two semi-crappy Romantic Comedies starring a couple of good women? Both of these flicks fall back on the same old crap in one way or another. I think Woman on Top's biggest offense is the wise transvestite friend. Leap Year has the anal-retentive materialistic person paired up with the easy going smart ass. Or something along those lines. It's set in Ireland, but it doesn't do a whole lot with it. Woman on Top has the Brazilian flavor, which it does more with. I guess Woman on Top is a tad more creative. Leap Year really does just go through the motions. It's almost assembly line film-making. Penélope Cruz also is more likable in Woman on Top. Amy Adams is just too saddled with with a cookie cutter character, though she does pull off some minor cuteness toward the end.
