I usually take DC over Marvel, but X2 is great, still tops most modern Marvel movies. Batman Returns, while better than the average-at-best first, hasn't aged really well. X2 FTW!

Remember when X2 was long considered to be one of the greatest comic book movies ever made? Now, I feel like most people forget about this one. Anyways, both are very good sequels to very good predecessors. I still think X2 is very good nearly 20 (wow) years later, but there are portions of the film that feel like you're just waiting around to get to the really good stuff again. I don't feel that at all when watching Batman Returns. I love the darker approach to the sequel, the unique Christmas setting and even the wackier elements like the Penquin's mayoral campaign, harkening back to the Adam West series, Selina becoming Catwoman by getting bitten by cats and so many others. And of course, the scene stealing Max Shreck. Cap things off with the terrific somber ending and you have a winner in Batman Returns.
