Two takes on the nature of jealousy, and this one is mighty close. One the one hand there's a woman so jealously obsessive of her man, that not only will she resort to murder, but she'll fling herself down the stairs to abort her own baby in her womb. On the other, there's a son who will not let go of his mother resulting in their mutual unhappiness throughout their lives. I'm going for Leave Her to Heaven as I feel it's more cinematic and shocking, even though the ending is a bit of a let-down.

Both of these have letdown endings, to be honest. Leave Her to Heaven is probably the more complete film, but Meet the Ambersons, despite getting hacked to pieces in the editing room, has such breadth of vision, such a creative outlook, such elegant storytelling, I have to give it the win here.
