Totally different sides of hitmen are revealed here. Hartnett is great in Slevin but In Bruge is something special.

Lucky Number Slevin was clever but In Bruges was outright stunning.

Lucky Number Slevin is more of a fairytale about karma dressed up as a gangster film. In Bruges is a very clever and funny real gangster story set in a fairytale location. However, even though the characters in Lucky Number Slevin are cardboard cut-outs from My Big Book of Gangsters, I find that film to be both more stylish and more emotionally compelling. In Bruges's character jar. They don't seem to be entirely natural when they're meant to be. Their actions don't follow from their thoughts or feelings, inistead following the direction the plot wants them to go in. I pick Slevin. Controversial.
