I think I'll go for It's a Wonderful Life. Cuckoo's Nest is very powerful, but Wonderful Life has great character work and builds up its story so smartly and emotionally, it's the more effective film.
It's a ridiculously tough call, but I didn't quite care about the characters in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest the way I did for the ones in It's a Wonderful Life. In the end, that's what makes the difference here.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest definitely wins big on narrative, performance and execution. It's a Wonderful Life feels hammy in sections, and doesn't live up to the power of its opponent.

I agree with Caesar. Cuckoo's Nest is fine but Wonderful Life is a flat out masterpiece!
