An amazing acting showcase in Winter Light against an ambitious and well executed idea in The Exterminating Angel. Very close in my opinion, but I'll go with the latter.

As much as I enjoy Exterminating Angel, Winter Light is one of the most simple but effective drama films I've ever seen, boasting career best performances from Thulin and Bjornstrand, Sven Nykvist's mesmerising cinematography and Bergman at his best both as writer and director.
