These are right next to each other in my top 10 of 2013. Captain Phillips just gets the edge.

Prisoners all the way
Im pretty sure that Prisoners is higher on my list and even though I think Tom Hanks gave the performance of his career with Phillips it is a movie that requires a little patience and is not one I could just through in the bluray for. Prisoners has better pacing and a great cast, I really like that the movie never excuses the characters from the actions they take and they all are held accountable, though I do feel the last 20 min declined in excitment just a little bit, but it by no means became boring or bad.

I really enjoy both but Prisoners is for sure the winner.
