Yeah, Eden Lake is grim, brutal and depressing. But Star Trek was mostly unaffecting, aside from the very beginning. I even got up to go the bathroom at the theatre somewhere in the middle of the movie, which is something I rarely do. With Eden Lake, I can at least say that I was engrossed (and repelled) by what was going on. Do I actually like Eden Lake? Not exactly. But the only thing I was really thinking about during Star Trek was "Is this almost over?" Eden Lake kept me wondering how much worse the main character's ordeal was going to get. I didn't care what was happening in Star Trek at all.
