Star Trek vs. Casino Royale

Two great reboots. I love Trek more than Bond, so this is easy.

Definitely Trek. I will admit Casino Royale was good, though.

Casino was good, but the Star Trek reboot was better.

Boy oh boy, two of the coolest movies. Gotta give it to Casino Royale.

I have come to the first pairing I can't choose between.

Now THIS is how you do a reboot. Both of them are an absolute blast, in my opinion, but I'm gonna break the chain and go with Bond. Martin Campbell should be proud of himself. Hell, ANYONE who can make a movie that has 3 (count 'em, 3) action scenes that could end any other action movie should be proud of themselves. And the movie makes me care. How many action movies actually make you care? Skyfall can't come fast enough.

Bah! Every time I come across Casino Royale, I can't help but to hink of Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph: "You kissed a girl. Dude, that is so gay!" Counter-intuitive logic, I know, but I tell you they have a point. Casino Royale claims to have a gritty, hardcore James Bond, but they way I see it they emasculated the fuck out of 007. The entire relationship dynamic with Vesper was so lame. Every time they shared the screen and spoke to eachother... Gah, the dialogue was abhorrent. "You're not going to let me in there, are you Bond? You've got your armour back up." "I have no armour left, you've stripped it from me." Then there's the whole psycho-analysis bit that's supposed to be passed of for unconventional flirting. Then there's the bit where Bond gives her fingers a blow job to soothe her fears and moral angst. I don't want my Bond to be a two-bit rent-a-penis, wannabe thug that falls in love and then has to shut the world out because the vicissitudes of love hurt him so. I want my slick, suave, debonnaire like a boss, superstar, frat-boy, playboy archetype back. So, yeah, I want James T.

I think I'll go with Casino Royale on this one. It was just very well done.

Casino Royale is just better
