Crocodile Dundee II vs. The Muppets Take Manhattan

It's tough to decide which of these two films truly formed my early mental picture of New York. For a young Californian boy, you see so much of the city between movies and TV that you don't ever think about what the city might actually be like. Crocodile Dundee II was my first Paul Hogan movie that I saw and I absolutely was thrilled by it. The build to its grand finale with Mick winning over all the street toughs and punk rockers is one of my favorite cinematic examples of the gathering of unlikely reinforcements. Muppets Take Manhattan is sneaky, however, in its wry view of 1980's New York, particularly with its glib view of corporate America and the schmoozing that goes along with it. The movie is also a total love letter to the iconic places in New York like Central Park and Broadway. I suppose the only way to decide would be to consider which of these I would be more likely to rewatch and get something from. Between Muppets Take Manhattan's broad cast and celebrity cameos and the many plates that spin throughout it, I think it's the safer bet. Kermit trying to pitch "Manhattan Melodies" is just a little better than Mick Dundee fishing with dynamite.
