John Wick vs. John Wick: Chapter 2

The sequel is ridiculously entertaining and contains some of the most visually stunning action sequences. I'm going with the first though.

I actually liked the action sequences of the first one a bit better. Even so, I give a slight edge to the sequel here. It was great.

John Wick: Chapter 2 does what every good sequel should do; Continue and expand the story.

Is it better than the first? No. Is it a worthy sequel? Yes. No complaints here, but the original takes this.

The sequel is better. I will say that the first film definitely has the more memorable action scenes and also a better soundtrack, but I think the sequel is the more complete package. Better cinematography, better acting, better pacing, better ending, better dialogue. While it may lack that emotional drive of the first film, it's still present in the sequel. Some reviews say that John is simply forced to do something and therefore it makes his actions less interesting and emotional than in the first film, but I think reviewers are missing the point in not seeing that John just wants to leave the criminal world behind for good, but he can't. Not only does it make the very final confrontation all the more impactful, but it also makes the ending more nightmarish. It's noticeably more comedic and over the top than the first, but I think that's what this now series really needs, and I appreciated it. If you're going for a comic-booky style, you might as well go all the way, and the filmmakers understood this. I think the sequel will go down as one of the best action films, not just action sequels, ever crafted.

The first film wins here. It was fresh, and wad something that came out of nowhere. The sequel had to just build on what was already successful, and although it did that well, it didn't really do anything new, and actually gave me more characters I cared very little about. The action sequences in the first movie I also thought were better, and I noticed Keanu spoke more in the 2nd film which I don't think was a good idea. He lost the mysterious image he had in the first, and also the more he spoke, the more I noticed he couldn't actually act and should stick to just the fighting and shooting which still again amazed me. Both solid movies regardless

For me, the sequel is better in almost every single regard. As has been abovementioned by others, it's better shot, mostly better written, and better directed, as well as being more satisfying in its action sequences. My biggest issue with John Wick 1 is that the titular character was too good. He was basically indestructible, and there was very little threat. Chapter 2 wisely puts him out of his comfort zone and on the defense instead, and benefits so much more because of it in my eyes. I do think I'm more impressed with the world building of the first because it was so unexpectedly brilliant, but even so the sequel still has great world (and character!) development in spades. I'm now officially on board the John Wick train, and can't wait to see where this team go next.

I liked both but think that the first was just a tighter movie. The nightmarish ending of the sequel definitely has me looking forward to Chapter Three.

The second is better, but it's close as actual hell.

The original is better, slightly. Chapter 2 was great, but the original feels more ground breaking to me.

Chapter 2 is more splendid amazing, even though both were that good..

First Wick was the best.

Both are fabulous the best, can't wait for chapter 3 to come.

John Wick

The original is still the best but honestly all of them are well-made action movies
