THE VIRGIN SPRING is certainly the more powerful film, but I'm dazzled by THE STING in new ways every time I see it. Both are master works, though.

It's true that The Virgin Spring is the more powerful film, but is there ANYBODY who would prefer to watch it over The Sting? Not me.

The Virgin Spring is far and away my favorite Bergman...but it falls to The Sting.
"The Virgin Spring" is much better and I'd rather watch about two dozen Bergman films rather than "The Sting" most days; even while I mean no disrespect to maybe the best Newman-Redford pairing ever. "Butch Cassidy " vs "The Sting" is a great debate. "The Sting" vs great Bergman?--not so much.
