My mom told me tonight that you CAN'T compare these two movies. I have to disagree with her. Yes, they're different KINDS of movies -- HTTYD is more serious, more of a growing-up story, even (I'd say) more of an adventure, whereas Despicable Me is more of a slapstick spy satire. But you can compare the quality of the animation and the writing, and there HTTYD easily comes out tops. I think it's one we'll remember a few years from now. Despicable Me? Not so sure.
How To Train Your Dragon was underhyped and actually very good. Despicable Me was completely blown out of proportion and didn't really live up to it's hype. Dreamworks wins here.

How to Train Your Dragon wins out. Better story though DM1 is pretty funny

How To Train Your Dragon is possibly Dreamworks' finest film. Despicable Me is good, but it can't beat that.

Love both...my kid prefers DM, but the edge in storytelling goes to How to Train Your Dragon. We all win here, but I'm going with Dragon.
